Aston Martin has gained a habit of showcasing their new special edition street cars whilst competing at the 24 hour race at Germany’s famous Nurburgring. Aston Martin was pleased to announce that the Rapide sedan model will be participating in the race this year; it managed to rank 38th overall and 2nd within its class. The bizarre news is that the special edition model that participated in this year’s race was based more on the V8 Vantage as opposed to the Rapide model.
This new model comes in 2 flavors, the convertible or the coupe versions. The Vantage N420 also comes with the choice of a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission, the vehicle is also equipped with a powerful V8 4.7 liter engine outputting 420 horsepower; this is version is largely unchanged when compared with the previous version of it. Due to a modified exhaust system that has been incorporated within the vehicle it should allow for the vehicle to sound more powerful and also produce more of a roar. There are a small amount of modifications and alterations that have been made regarding the actual mechanical side of things of this vehicle, these are such as the Sport package which mainly consists of altered anti-roll bars, springs and shock absorbers, it has to be noted that this package is an optional extra only.
The newer Vantage N420 model will actually retain the vast majority of its looks from previous generations of the Vantage series. The subtle changes that have been applied to the new model as such features as the wider rockers which boast fender vents, front splitter and the rear diffuser being modeled in carbon fiber; filling in the fenders are uniquely created 10 spoke wheels which adorns black highlights. Aston Martin is also offering an optional extra which allows for a radical paint scheme named the “Race Collection”, by choosing this optional extra it will offer a contrasting color effect on the roof rails and around the grille there will be “lipstick style” as seen on other racing cars by Aston Martin.
The base price point for the new Vantage N420 model will set you back around $133,350 for the coupe version, while the Roadster version will be priced slightly higher at around the $146,350 price mark. This is quite a good deal considering Aston Martin’s over models which are non N420 related can be as much as $10,000 more expensive. The Vantage N420 made its debut in the North American market last August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and was received with quite a good reception.
