2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E Cell – The Most Advance Car Anticipated

2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E Cell

Have you ever seen a car powered by four electric motors harnessing 533 hp, reaching 0 to 60 in just 4 sec? No, apparently you haven’t because 2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E Cell is going to be the very first of this kind. Supposedly, this Benz is anticipated to be the most technological advance car by the time of its release. Let’s find out what else is being revealed about this future car.
Aesthetics and Design
Now this is something Benz can never go wrong with. They work on some of the most experimental concepts and design, yet there is hardly any Benz you won’t fall in love with. The AMG E Cell we saw was one of the most strikingly bright yellows you can imagine with sporty cuts that compliment the performance. Despite modifications in the front styling, the car can easily be identified as an SLS. The gullwings are still there. The weight is considerably reduced in order to extract maximum performance from the motors.
A newly design axle also helps in reducing the weight and improving the aerodynamics. Adding style and aerodynamics, the EV is also given retractable splitters and spoilers.
Interior
The interior is a bit different than the non-electric SLS AMG. Console and instrument cluster are redesign to fit the EV features. The black and white leather sports seats give the true feel of luxury and quality. Entertainment features include 10 inch touch-screen that is used to enable all the functions including navigation and audio. Extendable splitters and rear spoilers can be controlled through the buttons on the drive unit.
One of the best things inside this SLS is the speed sensitive power steering powered electro-hydraulically.
Technical aspects
Powered by high voltage lithium ion batteries that recharge during deceleration, 2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG E Cell will be the most powerful performance EV around. The car will also feature composite ceramic brakes as an option. They are made from light weight carbon fiber. The 48 kW liquid cooled batteries will have a capacity of 40 Ah. An intelligent parallel circle is connected to each battery. This will enhance safety, reliability and life f these batteries.
As we described earlier, the car will pump up to 533p producing 649 pound feet of torque. An electric control system will regulate the flow of energy according to the operating conditions. Two low temperature cooling circuits will control the temperature of the motors. Another circuit will keep the batteries cool.
Conclusions
2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG is surely going to be the show stealer of 2013. We haven’t seen anything comparable to this zero emission EV. However, Audi eTron seems pretty close. We only have to wait till both of these cars actually hit the showrooms.
