2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid – The First 4 Doors Hybrid Coupe

2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
Mercedes CLS was the first 4 doors coupe, while the Volkswagen Passat was the first 4 doors bondable coupe. But Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the first 4 doors coupe which is actually a hybrid. The new Hyundai Sonata was already launched in South Korea and North America, and it is already considered a death rival for the Volkswagen Passat CC. At the New York Auto Salon 2010, the Koreans presented, in a world premier, the hybrid version of this model. Besides the normal model, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid comes with a frontal part which has been pretty much changed. The lights are also modified so the car has an extremely aggressive image for an electric car. The backside has also been modified but fortunately, not so dramatically. Here, there are only small design corrections. Per total, the bodywork’s adjustments leaded to a loss in the aerodynamics from 0.28 to 0.25.
The hybrid engine group under the car’s bonnet in 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid includes a 4 cylinders 2.4 liters engine, with a direct injection and an adjusted distribution system. All these for a better engine torque which is associated with an electric engine of 30 kW (40 HP) AND 205 Nm. In conclusion, the Sonata Hybrid develops 209 HP and a maximum engine torque of 265 Nm, being boasted as the hybrid with the best performances. The car can work properly in the electrical mode at a speed of over 63 mph. The transmission happens with the help of the 6 gears automatic transmission (while the concurrency uses the CVT transmissions). The energy recovery systems which run for the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid are activating when the brakes are used or when the car stands (when the thermal engine starts).
The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid batteries are lithium-polymer type, being more durable and occupying less space than the other ones (nickel- metal or lithium- ion). The batteries package is placed in the previous part of the luggage and weights only 100 lb, making the entire car to weight 3463 lb. The fuel consumption is announced to be very good, with values of 37mpg in the urban area and 39mpg on the highway. All these features make out of Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, one of the best sedan hybrids on the North American auto market. The only unrevealed section remains the price.
